News Item: HAE EHA Supports Important Causes This Autumn and Winter
Each year the Hire Association donates to organisations rather than sending out Christmas cards. As we near the end of 2024 three charities in particular have made a real impact on society, members, and the work of staff at HAE EHA. They are; the Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership (SHAP), Trussell, and the Mental Health Charter.
The war in Ukraine is now in its third year and the humanitarian suffering continues. The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has been working tirelessly across the industry to provide humanitarian support. In addition to raising funds to send generators to Ukraine HAE EHA supported their recent fundraising event held at JCB. The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has also been collecting Christmas gifts to send out to children in Ukraine.
HAE EHA’s CEO Paul Gaze had the privilege of taking part in one of the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance’s Christmas ‘Wrapathon’ events over the weekend of 23rd and 24th November, at the SHAP premises. Paul said, “It was quite humbling to be able to play a small role in the work of The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance through wrapping Christmas presents for children in Ukraine. Could I say a huge thank you to Mike Bowden, Carol Pickett, and all the volunteers who made us feel so welcome at the Swindon Wrapathon.”
The Anti-poverty charity the Trussel Trust, which shortened its name to Trussell earlier in the year, operates 1,400 food banks around the UK. Over the past year, they have provided over 3.1 million emergency food parcels, the most ever recorded in a single year and almost double the number distributed five years ago. HAE EHA has supported this organisation for several years to assist them in continuing their good work.
Finally, over the past year, HAE EHA has continued to work very closely with the Mental Health Charter to support a Wellness Agenda. Nikki Wyllie, HAE EHA Learning and Development Officer said, “We have worked very closely with Michael Lloyd at the Mental Health Charter to deliver mental health training, not only to association members but HAE EHA colleagues as well. The Mental Health Charter also works and provides support in local communities.”
