News Item: New Lithium-ion Battery Safety Video Released
Incidents linked to lithium-ion batteries are on the rise, with UK fire services attending 46% more battery fires in 2024.
HAE EHA has released a short educational video highlighting the risks that come with poor lithium-ion battery care, and outlining good and safe practices.
Phil Hemsworth is the National HSEQ Manager for HSS: The Hiire Service Company, and Chair of the HAE EHA Technical Health and Safety Panel. He commented, “The demand for lithium-ion battery powered equipment has never been so high within the hire industry and will continue to be power source of choice for years to come. With the high power and running time of the batteries increasing it’s essential that the safe use and management of these powerful batteries is taken seriously.
“HAE’s lithium-ion battery safety guidance video provides everything you need to know how to safely manage lithium-ion batteries, and how to deal with a faulty/damaged battery. This is the perfect toolbox talk to be delivered to all colleagues working with lithium-ion batteries.”
Carl Bartlett, Director of HAE EHA Certification Services added, “We are delighted to announce the release our lithium-ion battery guidance video to assist members in communicating key safety information to the wider industry”.
In addition to the video members have access to more detailed information in the Hire Industry Safety Guidance for Lithium-ion Batteries Code of Practice, available to download in the Members’ Area of the website (member username and password will be required).
