News Item: HAE EHA Joins the Mission to Reduce Work-related Ill Health at HSE’s Prevention 2024 Summit
On Wednesday 20th November the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) held its Prevention 2024 Summit, part of a wider three-year programme of work bringing together industry leaders to collaborate and find solutions to new and emerging health risks.
HSE called upon leaders who can make meaningful changes in their own organisations, and inspire others within their industry, inviting Carl Bartlett, HAE EHA Director of Certification Services to join the mission to reduce work-related ill health.
The event focused on three principles:
The summit welcomed over 70 guests from associations and bodies specialising in health and safety across multiple sectors including construction, healthcare and emergency services, and utilities organisations including water, waste and energy.
Speakers included Sarah Newton, Chair of HSE, Professor Sir Gary Cooper OBE of the Alliance Manchester Business School and Dame Carol Black, once a director at the Royal Free Hospital, now Chair of the British Library and the Centre for Ageing Better.
The summit focused on causes of ill health; muscular-skeletal disorders, exposure to dust and hazardous substances, stress, depression or anxiety, and put it to the guests to contribute their experience and expertise toward finding solutions.
Carl said, “It was a pleasure to be part of the HSE 2024 Prevention Summit bringing together like-minded industry professionals to collaborate on solutions to new and emerging health risks. Similar challenges were identified across a variety of industry sectors highlighting the need for a harmonised and consistent approach to reducing work related ill health.”
